Spanish football journalist Graham Hunter believes that Manchester United will sign Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi this summer.
United have been keen on the defender for some-time and have made initial contact with the Spanish club and Hunter believes that they will attempt a summer bid.
He told Sky Sports News: “Manchester United’s interest in acquiring Otamendi is well established. Therefore, I would expect them to try to buy him in the summer. If they come in with £50m then Valencia have a decision to make.
“It is better football sense for Valencia’s level to use the good players they have got to earn Champions League revenue. Of course if they don’t get to the Champions League, then you could say everybody is for sale. If Valencia finish fifth, then their financial situation is such that big clubs will be able to pick off their best players.”
Otamendi has made 30 appearances this season and has been one of the stand-out defenders in La Liga.
