Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, according to various reports.

The Argentine striker was expected to join the Gunners in 2013 from Real Madrid but decided to join Serie A side Napoli instead, prompting boos and jeers from Arsenal fans when the two sides met in a pre-season friendly that same year.

However, Gunners fans will now be cheering the former Madrid striker on as they look to seal a £34.5m deal in the coming weeks.

Higuain is keen to leave Napoli after growing fed up with life in Italian football and Arsenal have made significant moves to complete his signature.

Having scored 30 goals in 60 games for Rafael Benitez’s side, Higuain will add quality to a strike force that consists of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
