Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Real Madrid are keen on making a move for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling.

The young England international has been locked in contract talks with the Merseyside club since the turn of the year.

Sterling has already said no to a contract offer of £100,000-a-week and it is now understood that he will also turn his nose up at a massive £180,000-a-week deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The contract rejection will see the winger’s time at Anfield come to an end with Arsenal said to be extremely keen on a summer bid, whilst Man City are also said to be keen.

Chelsea have also been linked in recent weeks, whilst Madrid legend Zidane has now confirmed their interest.

“We know who Raheem Sterling is, and of course we are monitoring him as a player,” Zidane told the Daily Mail.

“There are very few players in the world who can improve the Real Madrid squad, so it is going to make sense we monitor the progress of the best young players in the world.

“We monitored Bale for over a year, the same with Isco and also Varane.

“We monitor many of the best young players in Europe, then if we feel they have something to offer Real Madrid we will contact their club and try and make the next step.”
