Chelsea target Mauro Icardi has rejected a new deal with Inter Milan, according to Mediaset.

The Argentine attacker has been in good form this season; form which has seen him gain interest from a number of top European clubs, prompting the Milan club to offer him a new and improved deal.

The 21-year-old and his agent, Abian Morano, have already sat down to discuss a new deal but it is now being reported that his demands are stalling such negotiations.

The Argentine striker has refused a deal worth2.6m (£1.9m) per year and wants at least3m (£2.2m).

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of the striker, having watched his development, beginning with his time at Barcelona.

Mourinho would ideally like to replace Didier Drogba, who is set to call time on his career this summer, with Icardi and is monitoring his contract situation, ahead of a potential summer bid.
