Bayer Leverkusen to snatch Ayew from Newcastle United

Bayer Leverkusen are interested in making a summer move for Marseille forward Andre Ayew, according to L’Equipe.

The Ghana international will see his current contract expire in June, allowing him to discuss terms with a new club.

Liverpool have held a long term interest in the Marseille attacker, whilst North London rivals Arsenal had also been keen through the years.

Newcastle are understood to have made contact in recent weeks and offered the speedy forward a pre-contract offer, however, German club Bayer Leverkusen are now interested.

Leverkusen’s manager Roger Schmidt went to Marseille on Sunday to watch Ayew in action against Paris Saint Germain.

The 25-year-old former African Footballer of the Year has scored four goals and created three in 17 games for the Ligue 1 side this season.
