Manchester United handed huge boost to sign Barcelona star

Manchester United have been given the green light to sign Barcelona right-back Dani Alves after Paris Saint-Germain have ruled themselves out of the running, reports Tribal Football.

United boss Louis van Gaal has had strong links to sign the defender, who is set to leave the Spanish giants in the summer when his contract is due to expire in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been suggested to be keen on the Brazilian but the French side’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has now ruled his club out of the running.

He told French newspaper L’Equipe: “PSG were interested in [Dani] Alves for a long time. But we aren’t anymore.”

The Red Devils are on the lookout for an experienced right-back with Rafael expected to leave in the summer. Alves won’t be commanding a fee however is thought to be asking a wage of £150,000-a-week.
