Arsenal thump Liverpool to make it seven wins in a row

Arsenal beat Liverpool on Saturday afternoon 4-1 to secure a seventh consecutive win.

After most international breaks teams can come back a little off the pace having missed two weeks of club football. Arsenal showed no signs of this jumping out of the blocks at the start of the game. Early chances could have been costly for Liverpool and early in the 5th minute of play there was a shout for handball which looked to have been a penalty but the referee showed no interest.

Liverpool were starting to make mistakes and if it wasn’t for brave Defending from Kolo Toure Arsenal could easily have been 2-0 up. Silly mistakes at the back for Liverpool continued to give Arsenal numerous attempts on goal. Liverpool rarely saw the ball in there attacking half until the 17th minute where Liverpool had a good 3 attempts on goal. Markovic sprung away from the defenders and with Sterling running parallel to him, Markovic unselfishly passed the ball to Sterling but had to much on the cross and the ball raced out, much to the delight of Liverpool fans.

A poor back pass from Carzorla gave an opportunity to Sterling but his shot missed the target. In the 37th minute Hector Ballerin cut the ball onto his left foot and curled it into the back of the net. A sensational effort. The almost a minute later Ozil steps up to the free kick spot and yet again scores a splendid goal for Arsenal to make it 2-0, Arsenal were now firing and another mistake left The gunners with a corner. Then almost immediately after Arsenal scored again making it 3-0 and now it looked like Liverpool where not coming back.

The second half started and the game continued at its fast pace. Both teams had numerous chances but never got to break through. The minutes flew by with Liverpool not getting many chances but having a fair amount of the ball.

The game looked to be dying off when Liverpool where given a penalty due to Hector Ballerin’s awful challenge. Jordan Henderson thumped the ball into the net to make the score 3-1 and give Liverpool just a glimmer of hope. In the 83rd minute Emre Can got his second yellow and was sent off, Liverpool would finish the game with 10 men for the second game in a row.

As Liverpool fans started to leave the Emirates they were yet again disappointed in the 91st minute when Olivier Giroud, last months player of the month score a goal and make it 4-1 and put the result beyond doubt.

With +4 minutes added on the Arsenal fans got into full voice. With the full time whistle blown Arsenal could come away from the game with the 3 points and for the next few hours be 4 points behind league leaders Chelsea who would play Stoke City later that day.
