Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has reportedly told his German international team-mates he is set to join Manchester United at the end of the season, reports the Mirror.

United have been linked with the defender for months and will been seen to cost the Red Devils a fee in the region of £35m.

Hummels has told his German team-mates during the international break that he will be making his way to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

“He is preparing his exit and he gave some of the players signs that his transfer is close,’ a source close to the Germany team told the Mirror.

If United are able to land the 26-year-old it will certainly add experience and quality to their defensive options, with the centre-back regarded as one of the best in Europe.

Manchester United are currently fourth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 59 points, one point behind Arsenal in third.
