Manchester United have been handed a boost to sign Memphis Depay after PSV boss Phillip Cocu admitted the player is likely to leave in the summer, according to reports.

Depay has been linked with a move to England in recent transfer windows and now a move in the summer appears to be likely.

The 21-year-old has also attracted the attention of Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, but it is United that appear to be front of the queue to land the forward.

When PSV boss Phillip Cocu was questioned on the talk surrounding his player, he told reporters: “I think he is ready for the next step, and I think that he will leave.

“We take it into account in any case.”

The Netherlands international, who has netted 20 goals in 34 appearances for club and country this term, is thought to cost the Red Devils a fee in the region of £20m.

Manchester United are currently fourth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 59 points, one point behind Arsenal in third.
