Man United prefer Dutch midfielder over Pogba reunion

Manchester United are confident that signing Kevin Strootman this summer is a better option than bringing Paul Pogba back to the club, according to Manchester Evening News.

Dutch midfielder Strootman continues to be Louis van Gaal’s first choice signing this summer as he looks to bolster his midfield options.

The 25-year-old has suffered several setbacks in recent seasons, having been ruled out injured since January with a knee ligament injury.

United remain keen to improve the central area of their midfield and have been linked with former youngster and Juventus star Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been in superb form this season and has gained interest from a number of top European sides, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

However, it is understood that United have no plans to sign the Frenchman and will pursue a move for Strootman if he returns to full fitness.
