Manchester United close in on signing Nigel De Jong after reportedly holding talks over a summer move, according to Manchester Evening News.
De Jong is looking likely to be switching clubs this summer when his contract with Italian side AC Milan expires, and United appear front of the queue to secure his services.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is reported to have requested his signature, and now reports in Italy suggest the midfielder, who is thought to want a £4m-a-year contract, has held talks with the club.
Negotiations are believed to be under way and Van Gaal will be sure to try and land the 30-year-old who he had previously worked with at his time being Netherlands manager.
Manchester United are currently fourth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 59 points, one point behind Arsenal in third.
