Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has admitted that he is ‘flattered’ by the interest of Arsenal.

The young English winger has been in negotiations with the Merseyside club over a new deal since the turn of the year, turning down a latest contract offer said to be in excess of £120,000 per week.

Links to a number of top European clubs have since been maintained with English duo Manchester City and Arsenal reportedly keen and it is the latter who Sterling is said to be fond of.

“Yeah definitely it’s quite flattering [to be linked], but I try to just block everything out in my head and just keep playing football and doing well in my next game,” he said in a recent interview with BBC Sport.

“My next game is against Arsenal [on Saturday] and I’ll be trying to my best against them, I won’t hide anything about that.

“I’m just happy to be playing football and want to do my best for Liverpool.”

Sterling has scored 11 goals in 50 appearances for Liverpool this season.
