Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has today confirmed that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Although the 64 year old, brought Arsenal victory over the FA Cup last season, he believes it’s time for him to hand over the managerial role. It may come as a shock to several fans, as it looked as though they were on a high this season.

However, Wenger who has been an Arsenal manager since 1996 has finally decided to close the curtains on his long-term role.

The decision may have been triggered by the lack of trophies the gunners have won, including their proven poor track record in European football. After repeatedly dropping out of the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, it seems as though the fans are asking for more.

Wenger has dragged Arsenal out of difficult situations, throughout his 18-year position. Including giving Arsenal five FA Cup wins, and becoming runners up in the Champions League 2005/2006 season.

Wenger may be leading Arsenal to another victory this season, with the FA cup semi finals against Reading. If all was to go well, Arsene Wenger might just reconsider his departure.
