Chelsea end Barkley interest after being quoted £50m

Chelsea have ended their interest in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley after being quoted a massive £50m.

The England international has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, whilst Manchester City have also been interested in the past.

Barkley continues to impress for Everton and has blossomed under the guidance of Spanish boss Roberto Martinez, prompting interest from the aforementioned and other European clubs, such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho was keen to add the midfielder to his squad last summer but chose not to splash out his asking price of £30m, but his interest has been maintained through to now.

However, it is now understood that after being told by the Toffees that Barkley will now only leave for £20m more; Mourinho has told his officials not go forward with interest.

Man City are also understood to have moved away from the possibility of signing the youngster.
