Real Madrid are ready to hand Iker Casillas a £2.5m pay off to leave the club as they push for Manchester United’s David de Gea.

De Gea is currently locked in talks with United over a new and improved deal, whilst Real Madrid are still interested in making the former Atletico Madrid stopper their number one for next season.

Madrid believe that De Gea is the perfect replacement for Casillas, who has dropped in form in the last few seasons and lost faith from the club’s fans.

Officials from the Santiago Bernabeu side have become worried in the last few days that they could now lose De Gea and have put plans in place to offload Casillas.

Casillas will now be made available for free transfer this summer and receive a £2.5m pay off, which would then free up space for the United keeper to sign.
