David De Gea is happy at Manchester United and has no desire to join Real Madrid, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Spaniard has been locked in contract talks with United since the turn of the year as speculation linking him with a move back to Spain with Real Madrid continues to gain pace.

The European champions are keen to replace Iker Casillas this coming summer and see the former Atletico Madrid stopper as the perfect man to wear the number one shirt at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 24-year-old has been in superb form this season but United are now fearful they will lose him after a latest contract offer was rejected.

A reported deal worth £140,000 per week was offered by United to De Gea’s officials last week, but the Spanish international decided to reject the deal.

However, it is understood that De Gea is happy to remain at Old Trafford, with MEN reporting that he is in no rush to pen a new deal.

De Gea will enter the final year of his contract in June.
