Spurs eye up move for Juventus striker

Fernando Llorente could be on his way to Tottenham this summer as the Italian giants look to cash in on the forward.

The Spanish forward has been heavily linked with Premier League moves to both Arsenal and Chelsea in the past, but it’s now Spurs that look favourites to secure Llorente’s signature in the summer.

Llorente has struggled to make an impact in Serie A this campaign, spending a lot of his time on the bench as the likes of Carlos Tevez, Alvaro Morata and Paul Pogba get the goals.

It has been said Llorente is no the prolific goal scorer he once was at Athletic Bilbao but his game never has been about pace; he’s always been a target man who seems to find himself in the right place at the right time, and is lethal with his head.

But a change in style at Juventus under Massimo Allegri has not suited the game of the Spaniard and he’s simply failed to adapt.

While the transfer of Llorente to Spurs does not fit with Mauricio Pochettino’s policy of turning to youth, with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado likely to leave White Hart Lane the squad could do with some experience. That’s certainly something guaranteed by signing Llorente.

Juventus snapped the Spanish forward up on a free transfer in 2013 and while he’s not getting any younger, he could be available for a good price and would certainly add some invaluable experience to an incredibly young Spurs squad.
