Terry: Chelsea right to sell David Luiz and Juan Mata

Chelsea captain John Terry has claimed that Jose Mourinho made the correct decision to sell Juan Mata and David Luiz.

The Portuguese boss sold Mata to Manchester United for £30m, whilst Brazilian defender Luiz was sold to Paris Saint Germain for £50m.

Both have impressed with their new clubs, with Luiz playing an important part in helping PSG advance past Chelsea in the Champions League.

However, Terry believes Mourinho made the correct decision to sell the duo.

“You look at some of the world-class players we’ve had, Juan Mata, David Luiz, players like that who’ve left the club,” Terry told The Sun.

“He’s seen something — I don’t know what — to let those big players go. He also knows when players take their foot off the gas.”

Terry signed a new one-year contract this week.
