Liverpool and Raheem Sterling are closer to separating than agreeing a new deal, Football Express News understands.
The young England international has been hotly tipped to reject any new deals offered by the Merseyside club as interest from La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to gain ground.
Sterling, who is keen to pursue a contract over the £100,000-a-week mark has been offered £90,000-a-week from the Anfield club in recent weeks but the proposal has since been turned down by Sterling through his representatives.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have become a consistent force in the Premier League in recent weeks and are now pushing for a Champions League place.
And, that has led Liverpool officials to postpone such talks with Sterling and wait until the summer.
Meanwhile, further contract talks with Jordan Henderson are also believed to have beenhalted.
