Wolfsburg defender Marcel Schafer believes a lack of playing time at Chelsea will see Kevin de Bruyne reject the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Belgian forward failed to earn a regular starting place at Stamford Bridge during his two-year spell at the club, but has since gone on to become one of the most in-form players in the Bundesliga, helping Wolfsburg to a good league and Europa Leaguecampaign.
His performances have gained interest from a number of top European clubs, with both Manchester United and Man City keen and it is the latter who have made moves to sign the 23-year-old.
However, team-mate Schafer thinks the 23-year-old is happy at Wolfsburg and will reject the chance of a move back to English football.
“I think that our chances [of keeping De Bruyne] are really good,” he said.
“He has already experienced not getting so much time on the field at Chelsea, which is top club in Europe.
“And that is why I think the best thing for him would be to stay for minimum one more year at Wolfsburg.
“Next year he could play Champions League here and win titles with us.”
