Marko Marin is set to return to Chelsea after Belgian side Anderlecht ruled out making a permanent bid for the midfielder.
The 26-year-old German midfielder joined Chelsea in 2012 but failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge and was subsequently loaned to Spanish side Sevilla and Italian side Fiorentina.
Now, on loan with Anderlecht, Marin has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the season due to an injury, just one month after signing on a loan deal.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, a £4.5m option was available to Anderlecht, but they have now made contact with Chelsea to inform them they will not be taking up that option.
Marin has two years left on his contract with Chelsea but it is expected that he will be loaned out once more next season.
