Chelsea have joined the race to sign Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Manchester United sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch the Brazilian forward in action for Lazio at the weekend as they beat Hellas Verona 2-0 in which he scored.

Anderson, has now been added to Van Gaal’s list of potential summer targets after an impressive run of performances, but according to a report, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is now keen to pursue a summer move and test United’s interest.

The 21-year-old only signed a new contract with the Serie A club last week but it is understood that United and Chelsea are confident they can lure him to leave Italy for the Premier League.

It is believed that Lazio would be willing to sell for a fee of around £30m
