Luis Suarez scored the winner as Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1 to secure a four point lead at the top of the La Liga table.
Barcelona dominated the opening periods but it was Carlo Ancelotti’s side who created the first chance of the game when Karim Benzema found space to cross for Cristiano Ronaldo, who rattled the woodwork from close range.
Sergio Ramos was next to test the Barca defence but his miss seemed to inspire Barcelona and they would break the deadlock when Lionel Messi crossed in for defender Jeremy Mathieu, who headed in.
Real levelled just before half-time through Ronaldo, who was played in following superb work from Luka Modric and Benzema.
Gareth Bale would then celebrate, only to see his goal ruled out for offside after Ronaldo had strayed.
And, that would once again inspire Barca to take the lead once more as Dani Alves played in Luis Suarez, who beat Iker Casillas.
The goal would silence Real Madrid and the home side saw out the remaining minutes.
