Football Express News understands Manchester United were in attendance at Vicente Calderon at the weekend to cast a final decision on Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.

The Spanish midfielder has been in sublime form this season for Atletico, following on from an impressive couple of seasons which saw him play an important role in their La Liga and European successes.

Chelsea and Manchester City have held high interest, whilst Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been monitoring his current situation with the reigning Spanish champions.

Louis van Gaal has had to rely on Wayne Rooney to drop back and play in a deeper midfield role this season, whilst Michael Carrick and others have struggled for consistency and fitness.

United are said to be extremely keen on a summer move for Koke and were hugely impressed with his performance at the weekend, where he assisted Fernando Torres in the eighth minute, helping his side win 2-0 against Getafe.
