Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard has been linked with a move to Celtic on loan.

Attacking midfielder Odegaard joined Real Madrid in January for a fee of £2m from Stromgodset after impressing for the Norwegian club side and national side, whom he made his debut with at the age of 15.

Now, 16, the youngster is developing with Madrid’s Castilla side who play in the third division, but it is being reported that he could be loaned out to gain experience this summer.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool were tracking Odegaard before he signed for the Spanish giants, but it is now being reported that Scottish side Celtic will make a summer loan move and link up with former Stromsgodset coach Ronny Deila.

“I haven’t heard [Odegaard’s] situation had changed, but if it’s true he’s going to be loaned out, then we will check and see what is possible,” Deila told The Scotsman.

“It’s more interesting to have players we own or have a buy-in option. They have to be very, very good like Jason Denayer, if we are to take them on loan without that buy-in agreement.”
