Former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has insisted that Gareth Bale is still one of the best players in world football.
Bale has come under increasing criticism this season for some rather ‘lazy’ and ‘subdued’ performances, gaining the wrath of media men and the Spanish club’s fans.
However, the Welshman scored an impressive double last weekend in the 2-0 win over Levante and Beckham believes that the former Spurs man is still in good form.
“Last season was a perfect season for him; this season, he’s still doing well but there’s always going to be moments when he doesn’t do as well in games – that’s normal as he is one of the best players,” the ex-England captain told AS. “He’s scored great goals already this season and he’s a great character. For me, he’s one of the best.”
