Is Theo Walcott on his way to Anfield?

With Raheem Sterling’s exit from Anfield this summer looking increasingly likely, Theo Walcott has emerged as Brendan Rogers’ perfect replacement.

Brendan Rogers had admitted that contract talks with Raheem Sterling will be put on hold until the summer. However, with a host of top clubs monitoring the England international’s situation, it’s likely when it comes to negotiations the likes of Manchester City, who are rumoured to be interested in Sterling, will be able to offer him top wages.

Rodgers has already stated he will not pay ‘over the odds’ to keep Sterling at Liverpool, and with his exit possible, Rodgers has reportedly lined up disgruntled Arsenal speedy Theo Walcott as his potential replacement.

Walcott is also unhappy with his current contract that sees him earn £90,000 a week. He wants to be one of the top earners at Arsenal and if the club fails to meet these demands he may well look elsewhere, and Anfield is the likely destination.

If the wages were right then Walcott would fit right into the role Sterling would vacate in the Liverpool set up, in what would be very much a like-for-like swap.

At Anfield, Walcott would be reunited with several of his England teammates, such as Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana, the latter he knows well from his Southampton days.
