England boss Roy Hodgson will rest some of Liverpool’s first team players for the upcoming international break, according to The Mirror.

The 67-year-old, who managed Liverpool in 2010, will release his squad later on Thursday for the Euro 2016 qualifier and friendly with Lithuania and Italy, respectively.

Hodgson has been accused in the past of overusing some international players, one being Daniel Sturridge, who missed five months of action this season due to an injury picked up with the Three Lions.

Sturridge is now expected to be left out, whilst Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana, are also being considered.

Raheem Sterling, who was sent back to Liverpool due to tiredness last year, is a doubt due to a knock picked up in training with Liverpool this week and is not expected to be selected.
