Hugo Lloris has admitted that he and his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates did not expect to lose to Manchester United last weekend.

Three first half goals from United saw them secure a vital three points in the race for Champions League qualification and push Spurs further away from a potential fourth place finish.

United were arguably at their very best all season during the game, however, Spurs keeper Lloris has insisted his side will not give up their chase for European qualification.

“It’s not a game that we expected,” he told the club’s official website. “We didn’t see the Tottenham of this season and we can have regrets after this game because it was an opportunity for us.

“Now we need to keep working and keep our heads high because with nine games left, a lot could happen. We need to be ready and try to win as many games as possible.

“You cannot close your eyes to the first half, you need to have feedback from everyone to see what happened. But we need to stay positive and the players are already thinking about the next game.”
