Liverpool are ready to make a bid in the region of £18.6m for Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino, according to CalcioMercato.

Manchester United’s German scout Peter Braund was in attendance as the Brazilian midfielder played for the Bundesliga club against Hamburg at the weekend and has sparked reports citing that boss Louis van Gaal will make a summer bid.

A whole host of European clubs have been interested in the 23-year-old after his impressive displays this season and Liverpool are now said to have joined the race, preparing a reported £18.6m bid.

Firmino was reported to have a minimum release clause of £14.5m but Liverpool’s bid seems to have put those reports to bed for the time being.

He has two caps for Brazil after being called up last year for friendlies against Turkey and Austria.
