Barcelona defender Dani Alves is set to remain at the club as the club and his representative’s negotiate a new deal.

The Brazilian defender will see his current deal at the Camp Nou expire this summer but a new deal is now likely after his agent and former wife Dinorah Santa Ana sat down with the club to discuss new terms.

Links to a number of top European clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain have been maintained and it was understood that he was close to joining the latter.

Contract talks between PSG and current full-back Gregory Van der Wiel were put on hold late on Wednesday evening, prompting speculation that Alves could be signed in June.

However, the former Sevilla defender fiercely denied such reports by saying on his various social media accounts: “You really believe what they say?

“I’m a little tired of listening to people talk s***… I love this club until death and I’d stay forever. But if one day I have to leave, I’ll have the same balls that have got me this far, and I don’t need anyone to speak for me.”
