Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has claimed his job is not on the line as his side face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
City travel to the Catalan capital looking to overcome a 2-1 defeat suffered last month and Pellegrini has been preparing under a wave of reported doubt on his future at the club.
Many reports claim that the Chilean boss would be axed if City were to lose to Barca at the Camp Nou, a potential result which would follow some woeful Premier League performances.
Talking to reporters, the former Real Madrid man said: “I respect all opinion but I don’t think my job is in danger at the moment.
“It’s a very important game for me and for the club too. It will be very important for our team to try and prove that we are one of the best teams in Europe.
“I have one more year on my contract and I am confident I am going to finish it.”
