Ferguson has made it his personal mission to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford

Cristiano Ronaldo is looking increasingly frustrated at the Bernabeu and could be on course to return to Old Trafford.

According to several reports, after Real Madrid’s home defeat to Schalke last Tuesday, Alex Ferguson took Cristiano Ronaldo out for dinner and you’d have to assume they discussed Manchester United.

After such an incredible first half of the season at Real Madrid where he seemed to score for fun, as well as being awarded the Balon d’Or, Ronaldo seemed to be untouchable.

However, his season has gone from bad to worse on and off the pitch for Ronaldo. As well as a very public split with girlfriend Irina Shayk, the Galácticos star has seemed out of sorts on the pitch.

Sunday’s home win over Levante summed up Ronaldo’s frustrations. He missed several chances, and his bizarre reaction to Gareth Bale’s opening goal gave the impression Ronaldo is anything but happy at Madrid.

He was even whistled by the famously hard to please Madrid fans – and his reaction, a suggestion he swore at the fans, won’t help his cause whatsoever.

Ferguson has made it his personal mission to lure Ronaldo back to Old Trafford and with his current frustrations at Madrid, you can’t help but feel a dinner with the man he has often called a ‘father figure’ will have firmly placed the possibility of an Old Trafford return into Ronaldo’s future plans.
