Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he and his team-mates had a feeling they would beat Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

James McCarthy, Lukaku and Ross Barkley scored the goals as Roberto Martinez’s side secured all three points at Goodison Park.

And, the Belgian striker has discussed how his side arrived ‘pumped up’ for the game; a game which would see the winner ease their relegation worries.

Lukaku told BBC Sport: “Everyone was pumped up for this game and as soon as we came on the pitch I thought we would win.

“It was important to be 2-0 up, Newcastle are a good team going forward and as soon as we got the second we had control of the game.”
