Group B came to an end on Monday evening in Brazil as both Netherlands and Chile qualified for the next round, leaving Australia and World champions Spain to return home.

It was sealed after the second round of group games that Netherlands and Chile would be advancing to the knock-out stages, meaning the winner of their match on Monday would avoid Brazil and goals from Leroy Fer and Memphis Depay secured a 2-0 win for the Dutch.

The game, played in Sao Paulo, started well with both sides battling hard and it took until the deadlock was broken by Fer, following a good move that involved Depay.

And, it would be the latter who added a second late on, punishing Chile for their attacking intent. The result now means that Netherlands will face either Mexico or Croatia, whilst Chile will go on to face Brazil in the next round.

Meanwhile, Spain ended their miserable time in Brazil with a 3-0 win over Australia thanks to goals from Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and record goalscorer David Villa.

The Spanish side took 36 minutes to find the back of net as Juanfran found Villa, who added to his impressive international tally with a superb flick.

His goal was added to by Torres in the second half after Andres Iniesta found the Chelsea striker, before Juan Mata would add a third.
