Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been left annoyed after a boxing video became public, prior to the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Manchester United striker found himself in the headlines on Sunday morning after a video was published of him and former team-mate Phil Bardsley messing around at his home on Prestbury.
Just 12 hours later and Rooney was bagging United’s third as they swept aside Spurs to gain momentum in the race for the Champions League.
However, the England striker has revealed his annoyance at the video becoming public.
Rooney told Sky Sports News: “That’s the world we live in today. It’s in my own home, it’s not public, it’s what friends do – they mess around in the house.
“It was a couple of mates in a private house, and somehow it’s managed to get on the front page of a national newspaper.
“I’ve just been focussed on the game, it’s more interesting for other people rather than for me. You’ve seen today, I’ve done a professional job and helped my team win 3-0.”
