Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has hailed his side after they battled league leaders Chelsea to earn a point at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Diego Costa scored early on for the home side but a Dusan Tadic penalty gave Saints a much needed point as they seek to fight for a European place.

Koeman’s men did well to fight off a second half assault from Chelsea as keeper Fraser Forster made a superb number of saves to deny the likes of Eden Hazard and Costa.

And, the Dutch coach has praised his side’s team spirit after their performance.

He told Sky Sports News: “I think we had a fantastic reaction after the 1-0 and played some great football. We had some good chances and managed to draw out the penalty.

“The second half, Chelsea pressed and we had more difficulty in keeping the ball. They had some chances and Forster was great again today. It was great spirit of the team.”
