Plans to build a new 56,000-seater stadium next to Spurs’ current ground on White Hart Lane were put in jeopardy after it looked like the build wouldn’t be able to go ahead.

Local business Archway Steel Metal Works, situated just yards from the stadium at the Paxton End, resisted the development which resulted in the company taking Tottenham to the high court last month following a lengthy legal battle.

However, on Friday the company gave up their battle with the club and accepted relocation.

With planning permission already granted by the local council, the £400m project looks like it’s going to happen. This will increase Spurs’ capacity from 36,000 to 56,250, with the club hoping to finish the move in time for the 2018-19 season.

In the meantime it is likely Spurs will have to relocate for at least a season, with Wembley and MK Dons’ ground possible destinations after West Ham won the bid to move to the empty Olympic Stadium.
