Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere will not join up with England at the end of the month after further injury problems.

The 23-year-old has not featured for the Gunners since the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United back in November of last year, and has suffered several setbacks in his recovery, prompting speculation he could leave the club this summer.

Today, Wenger told reporters in his press conference earlier this week that the England midfielder will not be available for the foreseeable future and will therefore miss the Three Lions’ fixtures against Lithuania and Italy at the end of March.

“It’s very difficult to say when he will be back,” said Wenger. “We have to respect his recovery.”

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will also miss England’s games after he has been ruled out for three to four weeks with a hamstring problem, suffering in the 2-1 FA Cup win over Man United on Monday evening.
