Berlusconi: Balotelli is not irreplaceable

Fuel has been added to the fireball of speculation surrounding a summer exit for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, by club Vice-President Barbara Berlusconi.

It was reported on Fox News earlier today that the 23-year-old Italian star, who is featuring in the national team’s World Cup campaign in Brazil, has not been ruled out a possible move away from the Serie A giants.

AC Milan club VP Barbara Berlusconi has spoken about the forward in a manner that did little to serve as confirmation that the club wishes him to see out the remainder of his four year contract.

She dubbed the striker, who is notorious for being hot-headed, a “great player,” but threw caution to the wind by stating “in my mind, I don’t believe that someone can be irreplaceable. We will see what happens (with Balotelli).”

The in-form ex-Manchester City player, who scored against England in their 2-1 World Cup defeat to Italy last week, is said to be keen for a move back to the Premier League following his 18 month absence playing in Serie A.

It is no secret Balotelli is on the radar of Arsenal and with manager Arsene Wenger looking to boost the Gunners’ chances of success next season, he may view the player as a good prospect for strengthening his forward-line.
