Bayern Munich have cruised to a 7-0 quarter final win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

The Ukrainian side approached the game having held Pep Guardiola’s side to a 0-0 draw in February, but their hopes of repeating or bettering the result were dashed when Oleksandr Kucher was sent off for a foul on Mario Gotze in the box.

Thomas Muller stepped up and scored the resulting penalty, before Robert Lewandowski set up Jerome Boateng to make it 2-0.

Bayern would then score against at the start of the second half through Franck Ribery, who sent a superb effort into the bottom corner.

Muller added a second two minutes later, before  Holger Badstuber headed in a Rafinha cross.

Lewandowski continued to create more chances, and finally added his name to the scoresheet with 15 minutes to go, chipping the visiting keeper.

Gotze would add the icing on the cake with minutes to go as Bayern comfortably booked their place in the quarter-finals.
