Schalke have completed the permanent signing of Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic.
The central defender joined the Bundesliga side in January on a short term loan deal and has become an important player for Roberto Di Matteo’s side.
Nastasic, who became surplus to requirements at Manchester City due to the summerarrival for Eliaquim Mangala and the form for Martin Demichelis and Vincent Kompany, joined the German club with a buying option included.
And, it is now confirmed that they have activated that clause, tweeting: “Schalke have activated the transfer clause with Nastasic and he will remain at S04.”
Nastasic featured in Schalke’s 4-3 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday evening, a result which saw them narrowly eliminated 5-4 on aggregate.
