Courtois: Chelsea park the bus? Not against PSG

Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois has claimed his side will not ‘park the bus’ in their second leg Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint Germain.

Jose Mourinho’s side secured a 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes in February but are favourites to progress after Branislav Ivanovic’s away goal.

In-form Courtois will be under heavy pressure from the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge; but the Belgian insists his side will not sit back and defend their slight advantage.

“We are confident but we expect a very difficult game,” the goalkeeper told RMC.

“PSG will come here to score goals. It will be a very tough game. We are ready and we hope to win in front of our fans.

“We need to see the tactics that the coach will put in place. What is certain is that we cannot wait. We must defend well but do not aim at 0-0 because, if we concede a goal, it’s PSG who qualify with a 1-0 win. I think we should play with our qualities, trying to score goals to win this game.

“PSG are a very good team. They have a powerful attack, good players in the middle, solid defenders and a good goalkeeper. This is a team that can reach the final.”
