Arsenal will NOT sign Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez this summer, according to sporting director Carles Rexach.

The 27-year-old Spanish international has been a key player for Barca since he was handed his debut by former boss Pep Guardiola in 2008, whilst his form has seen him hold down a regular spot with Spain.

However, the arrivals of Neymar and Luis Suarez in recent years at Camp Nou have seen the Tenerife born winger replaced and it was fully expected that he will be sold this summer.

Pedro, whose current deal expires in 2016, is currently valued at £22m by the Catalan club, making the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United keen to explore the possibility of a summer move.

However, they have now been told that the Spaniard will remain at Camp Nou, with Rexach saying: “He has prominence here. [He] is very important at Barca. I do not see Pedro away from Barca,” he told Spanish television channel Esport3.
