Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has hit out at Mario Balotelli after he failed to score in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Anfield.
The Italian striker came off the bench in the second half of the tie with Championship side Blackburn but failed to find the back of the net and stop the game going to a replay.
Balotelli has failed to make an impact at Anfield this season since his £16m move from AC Milan, scoring four goals in all competitions and former Red, Lawrenson, has hit out at the striker, calling him a waste of space.
“Forget about Mario Balotelli. He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn’t be anywhere near this team,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on [against Blackburn] as he might just create something but, 99 times out of 100, he will let you down.”
