Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has hinted that Ryan Giggs could leave the club to take up a management role elsewhere.

The Welsh winger spent time in charge of United at the end of last season following the departure of David Moyes, before he was appointed assistant coach to Louis van Gaal as the current season began.

However, former midfielder Scholes has claimed that Giggs, who made 963 appearances for the Old Trafford side, could leave to take up a management role.

“There’s no doubt, he had that little taste of it for the last three weeks of last year and he definitely wants to be a manager,” Scholes told BT Sport.

“You can see that. Over the next two or three years, will he have the patience to be a number two for that long? I’m not sure he will.”
