Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup quarter-final.

The home side started well and created a whole host of chances, however, their opening moments were marred by an injury to Martin Skrtel, who was knocked out after an aerial challenge with Rudy Gestede.

Blackburn seemed to pick themselves after that incident and Gestede came close when his back post header went wide.

The clearest sight on goal in the first half came when Craig Conway was through on goal, but he sliced his effort wide.

Kolo Toure of all people had the ball in the back of the net for the home side, but it was chalked off for offside.

Coutinho would come close in the second half as the Brazilian drifted a brilliant free-kick towards goal, however, he could do little more to give Liverpool the lead.

A late chance for Jordan Henderson came to nothing and the two side’s will now be forced to play a replay at Ewood Park.
