Goals from Scott Sinclair and Fabian Delph gave Aston Villa a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion and saw them book a place in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Tony Pulis’ side missed a whole host of glaring chances as Villa scored two second half goals to progress in the quarter-final tie.

Brown Ideye missed West Brom’s best chance of the opening 45 minutes but he could only watch as his effort flew over the crossbar following some neat build up play from ex-Villa midfielder Craig Gardner.

Villa had Shay Given to thank for keeping them in the game as he denied both Saido Berahino and Chris Brunt.

The second half saw Villa get themselves on the front foot and they made the breakthrough on 51 minutes after Charles N’Zogbia played in the captain, who drilled the ball past Boaz Myhill.

Claudio Yacob was then sent off for the visitors as the game turned nasty, after which Villa scored a second through Scott Sinclair, who raced through on goal, before beating Myhill.

Jack Grealish was dismissed late on but Villa celebrated as they progressed to a Wembley place.
