Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta believes that team-mate Eden Hazard is capable of winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo have fought for the much coveted award in recent years, but the Spanish full-back has backed Hazard to win the trophy if he continues his fine form for both Chelsea and the Belgian national side.
“Eden is a great player, younger than them [Ronaldo and Messi], and therefore has more capacity for improvement,” Azpilicueta told Marca.
“I think in the future he could win the Ballon d’Or, he has the quality to it, but I see more focus on titles than achieving individual trophies.
“But yes, he has great quality and I think in the future we will see with the trophy in his hands.”
