Man United beat Barcelona to Brazilian sensation with £5.7m bid

Manchester United have made a £5.7m bid for Fluminense forward Kenedy, who has been dubbed ‘the new Neymar’.

The Red Devils have been monitoring the Brazilian youngster for a long time, having watched him burst on the scene for Fluminense and reports in England now claim that they have made an offer of £5.7m to bring the player to Old Trafford in the summer.

The report follows claims that a youth coach at the Brazilian Serie A club informed local media that United had made their interest serious and were also joined by Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Having signed twins Rafael and Fabio de Silva from the club in 2008, United have a good relationship with a number of top officials at the club and are now confident of signing the Under-20 international dubbed the ‘new Neymar’.

Meanwhile, United boss Louis van Gaal is continuing to be linked with a number of top European players, including Mats Hummels and Raphael Varane of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, respectively.
